Fabulous. Pataki brings Marjorie Merriweather Post, the daughter of C. W. Post and heiress to Post Cereal which becomes General Foods, to life—in vibrant technicolor. From the meagre existence of the child to the sweeping opulence of Mar-A-Lago, Partaki’s characterization captured my heart and I had my pom-poms raised that Marjorie would find the love she deserved in one of the four husbands.
The epic story spans years and places, taking the reader from Battle Creek, Michigan, to Moscow, Washington DC, New York and West Palm Beach. A glitter of stars and names dance across the pages. The entire world of Marjorie Merriweather Post is fascinating with meticulous research artfully woven into an engaging plot. The story really shows why her name still resonates and I’ll never look at Grape Nuts the same way. Beautifully written, the book literally reignited my passion for reading and I longed to get back to it when I had to put it down. Looking forward to reading Pataki’s other books.
